A friend of mine recently asked me to recommend a therapist so I happily obliged. A few weeks before the therapist request, this same friend had also asked for a book recommendation and I suggested “10% Happier: How I Tamed the Voice in My Head, Reduced Stress Without Losing My Edge, and Found Self-Help That Actually Works–A True Story” by Dan Harris. I had no problem telling her it was on the list of books to read in the very near future and I’d love to hear what she had to say if she read it. She read it, she liked it a lot and then chuckled about how Dan Harris was meditating. When she then asked for the therapist recommendation she followed up with, “does this person meditate too? It is a conspiracy?” Well, perhaps! Here’s a short list of folks who have publicly acknowledged their daily practice of meditation. I have to ask you, if it works for them and they are so successful, what would make you think it wouldn’t help you?
